I got this mini donut maker for Christmas, but just started using it this week. It’s really kind of cool. It makes 7 mini donuts at a time, and the donuts are not deep fried in oil.
They cook on the donut maker’s non-stick cooking surface, kind of like my waffle maker. Included with the donut maker was an instruction booklet with donut recipes and glaze recipes and ideas.
I used their basic donut recipe and then had a variety of toppings and glazes. My daughter had a few of her friends over, and I put out the different toppings so they could create their own donuts. I had a small bowl of just powdered sugar, and another bowl of cinnamon sugar. I also made a plain vanilla glaze and a chocolate glaze.
My daughter got creative and mixed the chocolate and vanilla glazes to create some really cute donuts. The donuts were very tasty, and the girls had fun using the different toppings to make their own creations.
I’ve seen these donut makers at a variety of stores, including WALMART, TARGET, KOHL’S and BED, BATH and BEYOND. It is a fun activity for a group of friends to be able to decorate donuts and then eat them. This would also be great for a sleepover – what better way to wake up than to a freshly baked batch of donuts. Just thought I would share that in case you needed a new idea for a kid’s party or sleepover.
I’d love to hear about your fun and creative ideas for kids parties and sleepovers, so please be sure to share them with us.
