Today is Flag Day. Today is a good day to reflect on what our American Flag stands for. Our flag is a symbol of the “Land of the Free”, and many brave men and women have given their lives to protect our freedoms. We are One Nation, Under God, and Indivisible. Our flag unites us and represents our freedom. We raise it to celebrate and honor; we lower it to mourn. We fly it high to show victory, hope, and to show We Will Overcome. Our flag flew high during the War of 1812. I still get chills when I see pictures of our Marines raising our flag over Iwo Jima in World War II and our firefighters raising our flag over the remains of the Twin Towers and their city on September 11, 2001.
So celebrate this day and fly your flag high. Celebrate what our flag stands for. May God continue to bless our indivisible nation. May our Star-Spangled Banner always wave over our Land of the Free and our Home of the Brave.
We fly our American Flag in front of our house every day and have done so for quite a few years. To us, it is the symbol of our pride for our country and the men & women who sacrificed to keep us free.
Amen.
