Tradition says you must have green bean casserole with your turkey on Thanksgiving Day – or at least my tradition says so. Here’s a recipe for green bean casserole that’s a bit different than the usual one you find printed on the cans of your favorite ingredients. My Aunt Cindie gave me this recipe a long time ago, and it is one of my favorites. You still use cream of mushroom soup and French fried onions, but the other ingredients are slightly different and make it really good. Try this version. I know you will love it.
You will need:
10 oz. package of French cut frozen string/green beans
1 can (10 ¾ oz.) of cream of mushroom soup
¼ cup sour cream
Black pepper, to taste
1 can (2.8 oz.) Durkee French Fried Onions
1 small jar of sliced mushrooms (4.5 oz.)
4 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
In a baking/casserole dish, par cook the beans for 3 minutes on high in the microwave. Leave excess water in.
Add all the ingredients except for ½ of the French fried onions and ½ of the cheese.
Mix thoroughly and pat mixture down smooth in the baking dish.
Sprinkle with remaining cheese and remaining onions.
Bake at 350 F for approximately 30 minutes, or until cheese is bubbling.
Serve and Enjoy!
