Every now and then, I plan to share with you a few new products that I have tried and really like. Today, I will tell you about three new food products we have tried and really enjoy.
Veggie Straws by Sensible Portions – These are a great alternative to regular potato chips. I first discovered these while shopping at COSTCO (we do a lot of shopping there). They do sell a large family size bag of these, but I opted for the box of 24 individual packs. The individual packs are great for lunches or when snacking on the road or at a park/picnic. The box I bought contained 8 individual packets of three varieties: Lightly Salted Veggie Straws, Rosemary Olive Oil Veggies Straws, and Sea Salt Veggie Chips. All taste great. They are all natural, contain 0 trans fats, and no preservatives. They are made with potato flour, tomato puree, and spinach powder. Give them a try. I think your family will like them.
Veggie Patties by Don Lee Farms – This is another product I discovered at COSTCO. These are really good. Sometimes we throw them on the grill and sometimes I just heat them in a skillet on the stove. Like I do with my turkey burgers, I top my veggie patty with hot pepper cheese, avocado, and tomato. These are made with vegetables like carrots, onions, celery, and bell peppers. They even have sunflower seeds in them. I really like the texture and they are just so tasty. One patty has 170 calories and 8 grams of fat. Try these as an alternative to hamburgers at your next BBQ. I think you will really enjoy these.
Tostitos Roasted Garlic & Black Bean Tortilla Chips – Again, the first time I purchased these was from COSTCO. However, just the other day, I bought a smaller size bag at my local grocery store. This is one of Tostitos’ new Artisan Recipes. These chips are so flavorful. I just love them plain, but also eat them with salsa and avocado. They have 8g of whole grains per 1 oz. serving with no artificial flavors or preservatives, no MSG, and 0 trans fats. Your taste buds will be thrilled to try these.
Well that’s my picks for this week – Three food products that lend themselves well to this backyard, outdoor, family and friends get-together season of the year.
